Samsung Washing Machine Error Code tE: Temperature sensor error
Applies to Samsung washing machines that show tE or tC, tE1 on the display.
The temperature sensor (thermistor) is reporting bad readings. A power reset is the only owner check; beyond that it is a service fault.
What this code means
The washer heats and monitors water temperature with this sensor. If its readings are implausible, the machine stops rather than heat blindly.
The manufacturer's checks, in order
- Power the washer off for 2–3 minutes.
- Power it back on and restart the cycle.
If the error continues, Samsung says to request service.

Error codes are not shared between brands. On LG washing machines, tE is the “Temperature sensor (thermistor) error” fault — see LG tE explained. Always read a code against your own brand's list.
