Samsung Washing Machine Error Code LE: Water level / leakage error
Applies to Samsung washing machines that show LE or LC, LC1, 1C on the display.
The washer has detected moisture where it does not belong, or a fault with the water level sensor. Most cases are a small leak, a kinked hose, or too much detergent foaming up.
What this code means
Samsung groups these codes together: the machine either senses water leaking, or the level sensor is reporting something impossible. A very common trigger is over-sudsing — excess foam from too much detergent or a non-HE detergent confuses the level sensing.
The manufacturer's checks, in order
- Look for any evidence of a leak, including small ones — check under and behind the washer and along both hoses.
- Check that the supply hoses and the drain hose behind the washer are not kinked.
- Run an empty cycle with no detergent or additives and watch for suds. If suds appear, keep running empty cycles until they are gone, then see if the code returns.
If no suds appear and the code continues, Samsung says to request service — the level sensor itself may be faulty.
Parts involved in this fault

| Leak sensor / float switch | The sensor that detects the water — occasionally the sensor itself is the fault. | $15-$30 | Check priceaffiliate slot |
Error codes are not shared between brands. On LG washing machines, LE is the “Locked motor error” fault — see LG LE explained. Always read a code against your own brand's list.
