Samsung Washing Machine Error Code PE: Clutch position error
Applies to Samsung washing machines that show PE or PC, PC1, PE1 on the display.
On top-load models, the clutch that switches the washer between agitate and spin is not reaching or reporting its position. (Not to be confused with LG's PE, which is a water level sensor error.)
What this code means
Samsung lists PC/PE as clutch position errors and PC1/PE1 as clutch hall signal errors — the drive cannot confirm the clutch moved when told to.
The manufacturer's checks, in order
- Power the washer off for 2–3 minutes.
- Power it back on and restart the cycle.
If the error continues, Samsung says to request service.

Error codes are not shared between brands. On LG washing machines, PE is the “Water level (pressure) sensor error” fault — see LG PE explained. Always read a code against your own brand's list.
