LG Dishwasher Error Code LE: Wash motor error

Applies to LG dishwashers that show LE or CE on the display.

Quick answer

The circulation (wash) pump motor is locked up. Check for something obstructing the pump impeller first.

What this code means

Dishwashers circulate the same water for the whole wash with one pump motor. LE (CE on some models) means that motor has locked — most often something physical is stopping the impeller.

The manufacturer's checks, in order

  1. Unplug the dishwasher and check for an obstruction stopping the wash pump impeller from spinning, as LG's guidance suggests.
  2. Remove any obstruction and run a cycle.
Where you stop

If nothing obstructs the impeller and LE returns, the circulation motor or control board needs service.

Does LE mean leak on an LG dishwasher?

No — on LG dishwashers the leak code is AE/E1. LE here is the wash (circulation) motor. On LG washers LE is the main drive motor. Read it against the appliance.
