LG Dishwasher Error Code OE: Drain (water outlet) error

Applies to LG dishwashers that show OE on the display.

Quick answer

The tub is not draining. LG's own checklist starts with the filter, the drain hose and the waste connection.

What this code means

OE is the most common LG dishwasher code. The machine drains against a timer, and a filter choked with food soil is the cause in most kitchens.

The manufacturer's checks, in order

  1. Clean the filters at the bottom of the tub.
  2. Check the drain hose for clogs, kinks or freezing.
  3. Check the waste spigot connection, air gap or garbage disposal inlet the hose drains into.
Where you stop

If filter, hose and waste connection are all clear and OE returns, the drain pump is the likely fault — a service job.

Same code, different brand

Error codes are not shared between brands. On Samsung dishwashers, OE is the “Over-level water error” fault — see Samsung OC explained. Always read a code against your own brand's list.
