LG Dishwasher Error Code IE: Water inlet error
Applies to LG dishwashers that show IE on the display.
Not enough water is reaching the tub. Check the supply valve, the inlet hose and your water pressure.
What this code means
The dishwasher fills against a timer. Low pressure, a closed valve or a blocked inlet all show up identically: not enough water in the time allowed.
The manufacturer's checks, in order
- Check the water supply valve under the sink is fully open.
- Check the inlet hose for clogs, kinks or freezing, as LG's manual table lists.
- Confirm your household water supply itself is on and at normal pressure.
If water supply is good and IE persists, the inlet valve or control needs a technician.
Parts involved in this fault
| Part | Why it is involved | Typical price | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Water inlet valve | The valve that lets water in sticks or fails electrically, so the machine never fills in time. | $25-$60 | Check priceaffiliate slot |
| Supply hose (standard, non-Flood Safe) | Replaces a kinked hose or a Flood Safe hose that is restricting flow. | $12-$25 | Check priceaffiliate slot |
| Inlet filter screens | Small mesh filters where the hoses meet the machine clog with sediment, especially on well water. | $5-$10 | Check priceaffiliate slot |
Error codes are not shared between brands. On Samsung dishwashers, IE is the “Clogged filter error (Waterwall models)” fault — see Samsung 1E explained. Always read a code against your own brand's list.
