Samsung Dishwasher Error Code 1E: Clogged filter error (Waterwall models)
Applies to Samsung dishwashers that show 1E or IE on the display.
On Waterwall models, the fine filter is clogged and water cannot pass through it. Clean the filter first. (On rotary models, 1E means a heater error instead.)
What this code means
On Waterwall models, water has to pass the fine filter freely for the wash system to work; a filter choked with food soil starves it. Rotary models use the same display code for a different fault entirely — a heater error.
The manufacturer's checks, in order
- Remove and clean the fine filter at the bottom of the tub (on Waterwall models this is the check Samsung lists first).
- Re-run a cycle and see whether the code returns.
If the code returns after the filter is cleaned, Samsung says to request service.

Questions people ask about 1E
Why does 1E mean two different things?
Model-dependent: on Waterwall models 1E/IE is the clogged filter error; on rotary models 1E/IE is the high temperature heater error (see the HC page). Your manual says which.
